The devastating hurricane seasons of 2004 and 2005 led to the Department of Insurance’s initiation of Emergency Hurricane Mediation Centers. We are very involved and experienced with this form of dispute resolution. Our adjusters have represented our client in hundreds of mediations throughout the State of Florida. This kind of emergency resolution will no doubt continue in the future, especially if the predicted multi-decadal thermohaline circulation (THC) (warming of the Atlantic waters) continues to affect the Atlantic basin.

The mediation process is, many times, complex. Recently the DOI has required a pre-mediation inspection of the damages. We always required this even before it was mandatory. The vast majority of mediations that we have handled were settled prior to the mediation deadline. We consult closely with our clients in order to ensure a satisfactory outcome. There is no substitute for knowledge and experience in these matters.
