Environmental

Today’s indoor environment has come to the attention of the insurance industry through the excess verdicts in California, Texas and other States. Mold related claims are drastically on the rise in Florida. We at KMS are investing in the understanding of the specialized problems associated with indoor air quality through education and tenacity. KMS currently provides the service of writing remedial damage estimates from the environmentalist’s protocol of remedial specifications. Many of our adjusters, either have earned the Certified Mold Remediation (CMR) designation or are actively involved in similar environmental training. KMS can provide Oversight Management with regard to the remediation process. We recommend, wherever permissible, that a joint inspection of the damaged building be arranged with the authorized environmentalist and our adjuster in order to expedite containment and overall settlement of the claim. Oversight can confirm that the remedial specifications are being followed by the contractor and that proper containment and protective equipment is being utilized on site. Oversight management can, many times, save expense costs associated with Clearance Testing by identifying visible areas of contamination or improperly remediate areas before testing.

KMS identifies, documents, and communicates potential and actual mold related problems immediately to its clients for consideration thereby enhancing proactive capability. KMS stresses the need for environmental coordination with both the professional indoor technician and the remediation contractor. Severe cases require that the adjuster, environmentalist and the contractor all meet and inspect the building together in order to develop a total understanding of what has to be done to “clear the air.”

KMS sustains professional working relationships with qualified remedial contractors and environmentalists throughout the State of Florida. If you need help in identifying the proper professional for the job give us a call.
